Jump start · Lockout · Flat tire · Fuel

Roadside assistance in Shreveport, LA.

Most breakdowns don't need a tow. A dead battery, keys on the seat, a flat or an empty tank can be fixed where you are, usually in under half an hour on scene.

01

What does roadside assistance cover?

Jump starts, car lockouts, flat tire changes and fuel delivery, anywhere in Caddo Parish, 24/7. Each one is a fixed job with a price range you hear on the call. If the fix doesn't work, a tow to a shop is added at the local rate, not charged as a second trip.

Roadside work is about half the calls we take, and most of it happens in parking lots rather than on the interstate: the Mall St. Vincent lot, the Walmart on Mansfield Road, the LSU Health garages, the casino decks downtown and in Bossier. The operator comes in a service truck or the tow truck, depending on who is closest. There is no membership, no annual fee and no waiting for a motor club to find a contractor; you call the number, you get a person, and the truck is dispatched on that call.

02

How much does roadside help cost in Shreveport?

Jump starts run $50 to $85, lockouts $60 to $100, tire changes $60 to $95, and fuel delivery $50 to $80 plus the fuel. Those are typical ranges in the Shreveport area. You hear your exact price on the call before anyone rolls, and it doesn't change on scene.

The spread inside each range comes from distance and time of day. A lockout in the Broadmoor neighborhood at noon is the bottom of the range; the same lockout at 3 a.m. in Greenwood near the Texas line is the top. Fuel is billed at the pump price plus the delivery fee. If a jump start does not hold because the alternator is dead, the operator tells you on the spot and you can decide on a tow then, with the jump fee credited toward it. We do not sell batteries from the truck; the honest answer is usually a parts store on Youree Drive or a shop.

03

Why not use my insurance or motor club roadside plan?

You can, but those plans dispatch whichever contractor accepts the job, and wait times in Shreveport are often an hour or more. Calling a local truck directly usually gets a person on the line and a truck moving faster. Many plans will reimburse a receipt from a direct call.

Motor club dispatch works by sending the job to a network and waiting for a contractor to accept it. At night or during a storm, the job can sit. When you call us, the person who answers is the person sending the truck. If you want to use your plan, call them first and ask the wait time; if it is more than you want to sit on the shoulder, call us and keep the receipt. Most plans reimburse up to a fixed amount per event. The operator texts or emails a receipt with the service, the location and the time, which is what the reimbursement form asks for.

04

How long until someone gets to me?

Dispatch gives you an arrival window on the call based on where the nearest truck is right now. Inside the loop it is usually well under an hour; out toward Benton, Greenwood or Keithville it depends on where the truck is coming from. The window comes from that truck's location.

Nobody can promise an arrival time to the minute. Traffic on I-20 through downtown, a storm, or a wreck that ties up a truck all change it. What we do is tell you where the truck is leaving from and call you when it is a couple of minutes out. If the window changes, dispatch calls you; you are not left guessing. If you are in a dangerous spot, say so, because that moves you up the list.

05

Can you help if I'm in a parking garage or gated lot?

Yes. Service trucks fit most garages, and the operator handles gates and apartment call boxes with you on the phone. Tell dispatch the level and the nearest stairwell or column number. Low garages like some downtown decks may need the smaller truck, which dispatch sorts out.

Garages are the most common roadside location that stumps a motor club contractor. Our operators know the clearances at the downtown casino decks, the Pierre Bossier Mall lot, the LSU Health garages and the parking at Willis-Knighton. For gated apartment complexes off Youree Drive and in Bossier, be ready to buzz the operator in or meet him at the gate. For a lockout inside a garage, the job is the same as on the street. For a jump start, the operator uses a pack rather than cables from the truck, so the truck does not have to park next to you.

06

Can you help during storms and evacuations?

Yes, the line stays open through storms, and I-20 and I-49 see the most calls when Gulf evacuation traffic comes north. Waits get longer in those hours because every truck is out. Call as soon as you are safe, say if you are in a dangerous spot, and keep your phone charged.

Hurricane evacuations push a wall of traffic up I-49 from Alexandria and along I-20 from the east, and cars that were marginal at home fail in that stop-and-go: overheating, dead batteries from idling with the A/C on, and tires that were already low. Local storm nights are the same story on a smaller scale, with cars hydroplaned into the LA-3132 median and dead batteries in the casino decks. Dispatch gives you the real wait, even when it is long. If you have children or an elderly passenger in the car, say so, because that moves you up the list.
